The International Programme on Shaping Inclusive Finance Through Innovation: Lessons from African Microfinance offers a unique platform for policymakers, practitioners, researchers, and financial sector leaders to explore Africa’s diverse microfinance experiences. Africa has been a global pioneer in developing innovative approaches to inclusive finance—ranging from mobile money ecosystems and community-based savings groups to digital credit and fintech-driven solutions. This programme will provide participants with first-hand exposure to these models, enabling them to understand their impact, challenges, and adaptability to other contexts. Through a mix of expert-led sessions, peer learning, and field visits in Uganda, the programme emphasizes how innovation in African microfinance has expanded access, built resilience, and fostered financial inclusion for underserved communities.
